Polish shipyard Alumare recently laid the keels for two new fully electric ferries ordered by Dutch operator Riveer.

The BV-classed, CoCo Yachts-designed double-ended catamaran vessels Gorinchem XII and Altena XI are being built by a partnership of Alumare and the Holland Shipyards Group.

Each vessel will have an aluminium hull, an LOA of 35.3 metres, a beam of 7.6 metres, a draught of 1.65 metres, and capacity for 100 passengers and 100 bicycles. The propulsion system will consist of EST-Floattech batteries connected to two 171kW PM motors with Veth thrusters.

The ferries are scheduled to enter service in the first quarter of 2023.
