The States of Guernsey and Government of Jersey's joint procurement process for passenger and freight ferry services is beginning its next phase.

The two Islands are now inviting formal tenders from applicants with the necessary experience and capability.

The joint tender exercise commenced on May 14 and can be located on Channel Islands Tenders. The deadline for submissions is set to July 8, 2024.

Deputy Neil Inder, President of Guernsey's Committee for Economic Development, said a final decision on the ferry service will be made before the end of the year, in time for when the current service agreement ends.

Deputy Kirsten Morel, Jersey's Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, added that the islands are working together "with the shared objective of finding the operator [that] can deliver the best service in terms of resilience, reliability, passenger experience, and sustainability."
