Norwegian shipbuilder Brødrene Aa has signed a contract for three high-speed catamaran ferries for the Chinese market.

Two of the 42-metre vessels will have a capacity of 300 passengers and a maximum operating speed of 40 knots.

The third vessel will have a capacity for 230 passengers and a maximum operating speed of 37 knots.

Construction of the carbon fibre vessels will begin at the Hyen shipyard next month before a June 2019 delivery in Hong Kong.

Zhongshan-Hong Kong Passenger Shipping Co-op Co (ZS), China will operate the ferries between Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China.
