Rhode Island-based Blount Boats has signed a contract with Fire Island Ferries to construct a 25.9-metre aluminium ferry.

To be deployed for service between Bay Shore and Fire Island on Great South Bay when delivered in May 2019, the triple screw vessel will be a sister ship to the Fire Islander, built by Blount Boats in 2013.

She will be built and certified under US Coast Guard, Subchapter K rules and regulations.

The vessel will be powered by two 485kW John Deere diesel engines at 2,100rpm with 2:1 ZF 550 reduction gears.
