Russian transport company Kazmortransflot and state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) have entered into an agreement on the construction of new vessels designed specifically for operations within the shallower portions of the Caspian Sea.

The cooperation seeks to introduce a broad range of vessel types including coastal cruise ships, multi-purpose icebreakers, and barge-towing tugs.

The agreement also covers future repairs of the same vessels as well as leasing mechanisms to finance their construction.
