Germany's Phoenix Reisen has confirmed the sale of one of its cruise ships to a company owned by Egyptian hotel chain operator Kamel Abou-Ali.

The object of the sale is the 536-passenger Albatros, which was originally delivered in 1973 to the now-defunct US cruise company Royal Viking Line.

The vessel will be operated as a floating hotel permanently moored in the Red Sea.
