MSC Cruises awards firm contracts, MOUs for LNG- and wind-powered newbuildings

MSC Cruises and French shipbuilder Chantiers de l'Atlantique have entered into firm agreements for the construction of the third and fourth units under the World-class of LNG-powered vessels.

The two vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2027.

MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l'Atlantique have also entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the development of a new prototype class of LNG-powered cruise ships. Four vessels vessels in this new class will be built for a total cost of €4 billion (US$4.4 billion).

Lastly, the two companies have entered into a second MOU for the development of another prototype ship class concept which will be propelled by wind power and will feature other advanced technologies.
