Germany's A-Rosa River Cruises has confirmed that the delivery of its newest hybrid-powered vessel has been moved to March 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Originally scheduled for delivery in May 2021, the vessel is under construction at the facilities of Romanian shipbuilder Severnav while its interior will be completed Concordia Damen in the Netherlands.

The ship will feature technology which will allow it to switch to battery power when approaching a city and thus arrive emission-free. It can also be charged overnight via a shore power connection.

Onboard amenities will include 28-square-metre cabins that could accommodate up to five guests each, a children's activity area, a main pool with adjacent children's pool, and various restaurants.

The first departures are now planned for April 2022 on the Northern Rhine.
