Costa Crociere has held a coin ceremony for its newbuild Costa Venezia, which was designed specifically for Chinese guests.
Scheduled to enter service in 2019, the Venice-inspired vessel will weigh 135,500 tonnes, and features 2,116 cabins for a total capacity of 5,260 passengers.
The inaugural cruise of Costa Venezia will depart in March 2019 from Trieste in Italy to Shanghai.
A sister vessel to Costa Venezia will be delivered by Fincantieri in 2020.
During the ceremony at Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard, one newly minted commemorative coin was officially placed in the ship's keel as a symbol of good luck for the crew and passengers sailing aboard.
