Germany's AIDA Cruises has unveiled plans to introduce its first zero-emission ship into service by 2030.
The cruise company said this ship's introduction is in line with its goal of ensuring its entire fleet is emission-neutral by 2040, or ten years ahead of the climate targets of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
AIDA added that it is also conducting studies in cooperation with partners in the scientific community to determine whether it is feasible to retrofit its existing ships with emissions-reducing technologies such as fuel cells for hotel operations.
