Germany's Rhenus Offshore Logistics, working in conjunction with A1 Offshore Solutions, has started operating a recently acquired platform supply vessel (PSV).

The 2002-built Connector Express is being used on charter by TenneT for supply trips to offshore platforms as well as performing inspections and repair work on structures and submarine cables from the base port of Emden.

The vessel underwent conversion work between October and December 2018. It now has an accommodation module to house as many as 40 technicians, a free deck space measuring more than 700 square metres, a 26-AHC crane with a lifting capacity of up to 26 tonnes, and a rail crane with a maximum hoisting capacity of 10 tonnes.

Connector Express may be equipped in future with two ROVs to check and repair submarine cables and offshore structures.
