Jan De Nul completes turbine installation at TPC offshore wind farm, secures third contract at Dogger Bank

Jan De Nul Group has completed the installation of all 21 offshore wind turbines for the 109.2MW Taiwan Power Company (TPC) offshore wind farm phase one project.

The project teams of Jan De Nul and Hitachi are now proceeding with the termination and commissioning process of the complete offshore wind farm. The project began in September 2018 with the preparatory onshore cable works.

The TPC wind farm is located near Fangyuan some eight kilometres off the west coast of Taiwan, a region where typhoons are very common.

Each 5.2MW wind turbine is installed on a jacket foundation with transition piece, anchored to the seabed using four steel pin piles, and equipped with wind turbines with a downwind rotor.

Meanwhile, Jan De Nul has been awarded a contract for the transport and installation of 87 GE 14MW wind turbines at the Dogger Bank C offshore wind farm 200 kilometres off the Yorkshire coast.

Jan De Nul said the contract will mean a total of 277 wind turbines will be installed at the project site. The contract is subject to financial close in late 2021.

This project will be the first for the company's newest jackup installation vessel, Voltaire.
