UK operator Purus Marine recently took delivery of a new fast hybrid catamaran crewboat for offshore wind support duties.
Named Lowestoft, the vessel is the third in a series to be acquired by Purus. Each has an aluminium hull, a length of 27 metres, space for 24 technicians and 10 crewmembers, IMO Tier III-compliant main engines, fixed-pitch propellers, and 190kW battery arrays that will enable zero-emission operations while in harbour and when loitering at offshore wind farms.
The propulsion system delivers a speed of 25 knots while assorted payloads can be transported on the open foredeck, which has an area of 90 square metres.
Lowestoft will join sister vessels Tenby and Padstow in providing crew transfer support for clients in the offshore wind market. The two earlier crewboats are already operating under charter.
