Dutch operator SeaZip Offshore Service will expand the passenger-carrying capacities on each of four of its crewboats from 12 to 24.

SeaZip said the upgrade works will provide clients in the the offshore energy industry with more space and flexibility with considerably lower transport costs and reduced total carbon emissions.

As 24-pax crewboats, the four vessels will be operational from March to April 2022 for the new season. They will sail under the Dutch flag, which SeaZip said will be an added advantage for windfarm projects that are carried out in an EU context.

The company said that sailing under the Dutch flag with 24-pax crewboats will be possible from 2022 thanks to an amendment to Dutch maritime legislation.

The refit will be carried out by Next Generation Shipyards in Lauwersoog. The capacity on each crewboat will be doubled by expanding the passenger compartment.

Each vessel will also be fitted with newer air conditioning and ventilation facilities.
