This week, we look into acquisition, installation, and maintenance support contracts awarded by clients in the oil and gas as well as renewables sectors. The areas covered include Australia, Brazil, Egypt, the UK North Sea, and Japan.

Heerema awarded Ichthys LNG transport and installation contract

Heerema Marine Contractors has been selected by Inpex Australia for the transport and installation of the 4,800-tonne Ichthys LNG Booster Compression Module (BCM).

The module will be installed on the Ichthys Explorer Central Processing Facility, located off the northwest coast of Western Australia, as part of the Ichthys LNG phase two development.

Heerema will transport the BCM from the fabrication yard on Batam Island in Indonesia to the Ichthys Field before installing it in a single lift. The module will be used to extend the production plateau of the field.

Maersk Supply Service to provide integrated support package for Shell Brasil

Maersk Supply Service has been awarded an integrated solutions contract by Shell Brasil for a station-keeping assignment during the removal of the emergency gas lift riser on the FPSO Fluminense.

The scope includes responsibility for the station keeping, including vessels, heading control procedures, towmasters, survey equipment, and deck crew for the FPSO to manage turret operations. Two Maersk anchor handling tugs are assisting with the offshore element of the contract, commencing their charter from Rio de Janeiro.

Havfram tapped for SURF support for Saipem in Egypt

Havfram has been awarded a contract for SURF support work in Egypt for Saipem. The contract will see Havfram deploy a laying and construction vessel (LCV) in the Zohr field offshore Egypt in 2022.

Havfram will support Saipem with the latter's installation of 160 kilometres of umbilical product in over 1,400 metres water depth on the Zohr North development. The scope of work includes the provision of a high specification LCV with associated construction crew, WROVs, underdeck carousel and VLS services, as well as support to the load-out operation in Norway and various engineering tasks in support of the project.

Fugro to undertake site investigation at Hornsea Three and Four wind farms

Ørsted has awarded Fugro a marine geotechnical site investigation contract for its Hornsea Three and Hornsea Four offshore wind farm developments.

Fugro is scheduled to mobilise multiple vessels to serve the contract from May to August 2022.

The detailed site investigations will include downhole cone penetration testing (CPT), seismic cone penetration testing (SCPT), downhole sampling, and high-quality rock coring as well as borehole geophysical logging. Fugro said the activities will not only enable reliable and efficient foundation designs, but also help derisk the project's future developmental phases.

Van Oord, Kajima Corporation selected for offshore wind projects in Japan

Tokyo-based construction company Kajima Corporation and Van Oord have been selected as the preferred balance of plant contractors for three offshore wind projects in Japan.

The balance of plant projects will entail provision of all supporting components and auxiliary systems other than the wind turbines.

The wind projects are located in Akita in northern Japan, and Chiba near Tokyo. These are the 391MW wind farm near Choshi in Chiba, the 479MW wind project off the coast of Noshiro, Mitane and Oga in Akita and the 819MW project off the coast of Yurihonjo in Akita, which Van Oord said will be the largest wind farm in Japan.
