Netherlands-based Van Stee Offshore (formerly HvS Dredging Support) has confirmed that the newest addition to its fleet, the DP2 multi-purpose workboat Zwerver I, is nearing completion and is expected to enter service in the middle of this month.

During recent sea trials for class society Bureau Veritas, the vessel achieved average and maximum bollard pulls of 66 tonnes and 69 tonnes, respectively.

Zwerver I has also demonstrated an operating draught of only 2.3 metres while in DP2 mode, which Van Stee claims makes it ideal for cable lay, cable repair, survey operations, ROV support, UXO clearance, and other duties in high-current tidal areas though it is also equipped to perform anchor handling.

Onboard facilities include accommodations for 58 people, a large mess, a meeting room, a client office, and a gym.
