JERA has submitted its planning phase environmental impact statement for the Ishikari Bay Offshore Wind Farm Construction Project to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

The submission of the statement is in line with the company's initiative to seek official Japanese government approval for the construction of the new wind farm, which will be located in Ishikari Bay 2.5 kilometres off Hokkaido.

Once operational following its expected construction period of approximately 36 months, the wind farm will have a total generating capacity of 520 MW.

The statement outlines the results of deliberations regarding issues for which environmental conservation should be considered at the project planning stage. On Tuesday, August 25, the statement will be posted on JERA's website and made available for public review at the related administrative agencies.
