Dublin-based geotechnical engineering consultancy Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions (GDG) has been commissioned by the Irish government to undertake an independent and external review of data and information requirements of the country's offshore renewable energy sector, in the context of a proposed seabed mapping programme.

The seabed mapping programme will be managed by Infomar, a government-funded joint programme between Geological Survey Ireland (GSI) and the country's Marine Institute.

The surveys will cover unmapped marine territory and create a range of integrated mapping products containing physical, chemical, and biological features.
