Vattenfall has awarded Bibby HydroMap a contract for a second unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey on the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) Wind Farm Zone in the Netherlands.

The company has been operational on the Hollandse Kust Zuid Wind Farm Zone Sites I and II since March 2019, and the new project will utilise a similar multi-vessel approach.

The survey vessels Bibby Tethra (pictured) and Bibby Athena will together acquire over 5,000 line kilometres of high-density magnetometer, side scan sonar, multibeam echosounder, and parametric sub-bottom data over the Dutch wind farms. Both vessels will be equipped with a comparable suite of sensors, including dual remotely operated towed vehicles (ROTVs) each accommodating four magnetometers designed to provide a dense magnetometer dataset across key locations of the site.

Bibby HydroMap's recent charter of the survey vessel SeaZip Fix will also aid acquisition across the sites acquiring ultra-high-resolution seismic data over the Dutch sites.
