Houston-based Zentech has been awarded the engineering and project management scope for the conversion of the jack-up drilling rig Key Gibraltar into a mobile offshore production unit (MOPU).
The platform will be deployed by Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) in the B-80 field offshore Mumbai.
Once conversion work is completed, the vessel will be the first MOPU to be deployed in India by a private entity.
The project is expected to be completed in time for achieving first oil by June 2020.
