SBM Offshore signed a contract for a second floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) on Wednesday, November 21, just as the keel for the first FPSO was being laid.

Each FPSO is designed to produce 220,000 barrels of oil per day and will have associated gas treatment capacity of 11 million cubic metres per day as well as water injection capacity of 250,000 barrels per day.

The generic hull has received basic design approval from both the American Bureau of Shipping and Bureau Veritas.
