A vessel-sharing scheme for the UK central and northern North Sea (CNNS) region has been started by Aberdeen-based logistics provider Peterson, Maersk Oil North Sea UK, Petrofac, and Dana Petroleum.
Operated from Peterson's Waterloo Quay facility, the scheme has two weekly sailings serving four offshore assets: Maersk Oil's Gryphon and Global Producer III floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO), Dana's Triton FPSO, and the FPF-1 semisubmersible platform for which Petrofac is duty holder.
Peterson will serve as an independent facilitator and vessel charterer. It cited benefits such as efficiency through combining volumes, distance and capacity, increased flexibility in schedules, and minimised exposure to the environment by dramatically reducing sailing distances and cost savings.
Peterson Regional Director Chris Coull said the scheme would welcome more pool partners.
