Esvagt's newest walk-to-work vessel, Esvagt Albert Betz, has begun work on a 15-year contract to support the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm in the southern part of the North Sea.
Designed by Havyard and built by Spain's Zamakona Shipyard, the vessel is a near identical sister to Esvagt Mercator, which is currently servicing the Nobelwind and Belwind 1 wind farms for MHI Vestas.
The recently christened Esvagt Albert Betz has a length of 58 metres, a fixed gangway system, and accommodations for 42 technicians and crew. The vessel honours the late Albert Betz, a German pioneer in the study of wind energy who put forward the theoretical formulas for the maximal utilisation of wind energy through a wind turbine generator.
