Netherlands-based subsea services company the N-Sea Group has commissioned a cable repair vessel into service.

Curo was originally completed as a deck barge in 2016 but has since been converted for cable repair and maintenance duties. Key modifications include a DP2 system, a knuckle boom offshore crane, a dual basket carousel, and equipment for the repair and replacement of HVAC and HVDC inter-array cables, export cables, and inter-connectors.

The Bureau Veritas-classed vessel has an LOA of 87.5 metres, a moulded beam of 27 metres, a maximum draught of approximately 4.65 metres, a gross tonnage of 5,277, and an open aft deck with a total area of 1,450 square metres for transporting loads of up to 2,500 tonnes. Three Cummins KTA 50D 1,291kW generators will propel the vessel to a speed of seven knots.

The air-conditioned accommodations available for 60 personnel include 48 cabins, five offices, and a recreation room.

Curo's initial deployment following conversion will be in Germany, where the vessel will perform inter-array replacement works.
