Van Oord has installed the last of the in total 44 wind turbines of the Norther Offshore Wind Farm, the largest offshore wind farm in Belgium.
Van Oord was selected as main contractor for works including cable installation and burial, installation of the offshore high voltage station (OHVS), and turbine installation. The equipment deployed for the project included the installation vessel Aeolus (pictured), the trencher Dig-It, and the cable-laying vessel Nexus.
Once online, the 370MW wind farm will supply almost 400,000 households. It is intended to generate 13 per cent of Belgium's energy needs from renewable sources by 2020.
