Offshore wind maintenance mothership launched in China

China's Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding has launched a new multi-purpose vessel designed to operate as a mothership supporting activities at offshore wind farms.

MW913-1 was ordered by local operator Fujian Operation and Maintenance Technology. Upon completion, it will have an LOA of 98.7 metres, a beam of 22.8 metres, a depth of nine metres, and a DP2 system.

Duties will include cable laying, submarine cable repair, and windfarm protection.

MW913-1 is classed by China Classification Society.
