Jan De Nul Group named its newest offshore installation vessel Taillevent at a ceremony in the port of Ostend in Belgium on Thursday, October 25.

Jan De Nul Group acquired the vessel on July 18, 2018, from Dutch company Vroon Group, which operated it as MPI Discovery.

The 2011-built Taillevent is designed specifically for the transport and installation of offshore wind turbines and their foundations. It is also perfectly suited to other offshore sectors, such as the oil and gas industry.

The vessel is 140 metres long and can operate in up to 40 metres of water depth. It has an onboard crane with a lifting capacity of 1,000 tonnes and an auxiliary crane with a capacity of 50 tonnes.
