Derrick barge joins Shore Offshore Services fleet

Gibson, Louisiana-based Shore Offshore Services (SOS) has completed its acquisition of the derrick barge Swing Thompson from Turnkey Offshore Project Services.

The vessel will be renamed Hulk and will continue to operate under the flag of Vanuatu while following ABS guidelines and working towards gaining OVID compliance.

Hulk will be capable of installation and decommissioning of offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico and internationally. The 400- by 120-foot (- by -metre) vessel is also equipped with a 1,320-tonne, 98-foot (-metre) radius crane.

SOS is planning to mobilise the vessel to perform its existing workload at the end of May 2024.
