CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE), a joint venture formed by CSBC Corporation and DEME Offshore, has initiated the early works contract for the very first floating heavy lift and installation vessel to be built in Taiwan.

The DP3 vessel will be named Green Jade and will be built at CSBC's facilities in Taiwan for eventual delivery in 2022. It will have a length of 216.5 metres, accommodations for up to 160 people, and a crane with a 4,000-tonne lifting capacity.

Both CSBC and DEME Offshore have agreed to start up the early works and the ordering of critical packages for the vessel to facilitate the beginning of its construction and to ensure its availability to serve offshore wind clients by 2023.

For its first projects, Green Jade will be deployed to support the Hai Long and Zhong Neng wind farms offshore Taiwan.
