Construction work has been completed on CP-8001, Japan's first multi-purpose self-elevating platform (SEP) equipped with a large crane.

Designed by Netherlands-based GustoMSC and built by Japan Marine United, the SEP was delivered to Penta-Ocean Construction in December 2018 and underwent additional sea trials and outfitting prior to the full commencement of operations.

CP-8001 is designed to perform installation of large-scale marine structures such as 10 MW wind turbines.

The vessel has a length of approximately 73 metres, a width of 40 metres, a free deck area of approximately 1,750 square metres, an 800-tonne main crane, and a helicopter deck.

Onboard accommodations are for a maximum of 120 people.
