Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has delivered the first of two drillships in a series ordered by Angolan state-owned oil company Sonangol.

The 238- by 42-metre Sonangol Libongos is capable of operating in deep, ultra-deep, and pre-salt waters.

The newbuild will be operated by Sonadrill, a joint venture between Sonangol and Seadrill.

Sister vessel Sonangol Quenguela is currently under construction at DSME and is scheduled to be delivered within the first half of 2019.
