New charter contracts have been awarded for drilling vessels for work in Northern Europe and Africa, while customers in the offshore wind and oil and gas markets elsewhere have hired vessels to provide maintenance, survey, and site preparation support.

Equinor awards scope extension, new contract to Odfjell Drilling

Equinor has exercised one additional well to the contract for Deepsea Atlantic, a rig owned by Odfjell Drilling. The additional well has been exercised under a contract entered into between the parties in May 2018 as part of an overall master frame agreement.

The work on the additional well will commence after the completion of the current scope estimated in the third quarter of 2021.

Equinor has also awarded Odfjell Drilling a separate contract for the use of the semi-submersible drilling vessel Deepsea Stavanger. The contract has a firm scope of three wells with an expected duration of four months and an expected commencement date during Q1 2022.

Seadrill, Sonangol JV secures 12-well contract

Sonadrill Holding, a joint venture formed by Seadrill and Angola's Sonangol, has secured a contract calling for the deployment of the drillship Sonangol Quenguela.

The scope is for 12 wells with one option for nine wells and eleven one-well options in Angola.

The total value for the firm portion of the contract will be approximately US$131 million inclusive of mobilisation revenue and additional services. Sonadrill expects commencement in Q1 2022 and conclusion in Q3 2023.

The contract is contingent on approval by Angola's National Concessionaire.

Rohde Nielsen's newest vessel embarks on first project

Rohde Nielsen's newes multi-purpose offshore vessel Grane R has just been allocated its first project, which will be in support of the Baltic Pipe natural gas pipeline that will stretch from Norway to Poland and Denmark.

During the project Grane R will perform boulder removal, trench maintenance dredging, and backfilling. For the boulder removal operations, the vessel's crane is equipped with a peel grab supplied with video camera for visual monitoring.

The vessel is also capable of multi-beam surveys and installing large amounts of rock on depths of up to 60 metres using its adjustable fall pipe system.

Floatel enters renewables support sector

Floatel International will serve its first contract in support of an offshore wind company by deploying the accommodation vessel Floatel Triumph.

The company will support Ørsted in constructing its Greater Changhua 1 and 2a offshore wind farms located some 35 to 60 kilometres offshore Taiwan.

Floatel Triumph will provide construction support services including accommodation and related services such as catering.

Axxis Geo Solutions vessel tapped for Sanco OBN survey

Axxis Production, a wholly owned subsidiary of Axxis Geo Solution, has entered into a time charterparty for the seismic survey vessel Sanco Star with Sanco for the chartering of the vessel.

Sanco Star will be used in connection with the contract with an undisclosed international energy company for an ocean bottom node (OBN) survey.

The agreement remains subject to customary closing conditions.
