CCCC Shanghai Waterway Bureau, a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), recently took delivery of a new paving vessel built by Zhejiang Haoyou Shipbuilding.
Named Jiaotong Jianshe 10 Hao (交通建设10号), the vessel will be used for reclamation projects in coastal areas. It is the second vessel in a series developed by local engineering firm Shanghai Hangsheng Design to be used primarily for the construction of cofferdams of varying environmental conditions, coastal shoals, deep-water ports, and even offshore airports. The vessels may also perform rock-laying and sand-filling in support of general marine construction projects.
The vessel has an LOA of 116.6 metres, a beam of 25 metres, a design draught of only 3.5 metres, and a depth of 6.3 metres. The maximum paving dimensions are 300 by 54 metres, and the filling capacity is rated at 1,000 cubic metres per hour. Paving can be performed at water depths of as much as 30 metres.
The paving system utilises an integrated control system that allows operations to be performed more efficiently. Technologies that help achieve this goal include an intelligent control system, a mooring control system, automatic anchor positioning, and an irrigation control system.
Design work on Jiaotong Jianshe 10 Hao was done in compliance to China Classification Society requirements.
