Denmark-based Rohde Nielsen has won a US$20 million deal to dredge sea sand in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka's state-run Land Reclamation and Development Company (SLLRDC) said the firm was chosen after competitive bidding.
Under the contract, the sea sand will be used to replenish existing stocks of the SLLRDC at Muturajawela.
Cleaned of salt, sea sand is sold for construction amid a shortage of river sand.
The sand would also be used to reclaim land at Kerawalapitiya.
