Quebec-based marine company Ocean Group, through its related corporations, has been awarded numerous contracts in British Columbia as part of the expansion of its services to clients on Canada's west coast.
The first is a harbour towing contract awarded to Ocean BC Towing. Two new 28-metre tugs recently completed at Damen's Vietnam shipyard have been added to Ocean BC Towing's existing fleet and, together with the company's current tug Ocean Stevns (pictured), will be used to provide harbour towing services in Vancouver.
The award of the harbour towing contract follows the award of a service contract by Cargill, a food and agriculture company.
Ocean Dredging DM has won a contract to provide marine dredging, subsea shoreline infilling, and riprap and marine habitat compensation, including the construction of artificial reefs, for the Coast Tsimhian Northern Contractors Alliance (CTNCA).
The CTNCA will construct a 5.4-kilometre road in Prince Rupert, BC, to connect two facilities at the Port of Prince Rupert, Ridley Island, and the container terminal on Kaien Island. The work is estimated to take approximately three months for dredging and three to four months for riprap.
Lastly, Ocean Marine Works has been renting out container barges to various clients in BC for wharf construction projects beginning in June 2019. As of early March 2020, close to 40 such barges are on lease to the same clients.
