Australian marine projects company Hall Contracting recently took delivery of a new cutter suction dredger (CSD) built by Netherlands-based Royal IHC.

The non-self-propeller vessel is capable of dredging compacted soil types and materials, such as clay and rock. Duties will include land reclamation and construction of new harbour basins and canals.

The CSD's modular construction allows it to be easily dismantled for transport via road, rail, or sea and then re-assembled on-site.

The dredger has an LOA of 26.6 metres, a beam of 6.99 metres, and a draught of 1.4 metres. A set of 13.85-metre spuds allows for a maximum standard dredging depth of 10 metres.

The dredge pump is powered by a dedicated IMO Tier II-compliant engine with freshwater cooling. The cutter drive has been designed to accept temporary overload, resulting in a high maximum cutting power.

The CSD can be operated by only one crewmember.
