Netherlands-based C-Job Naval Architects has launched a new range of customisable trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs) expected to fill the gap between standard designs and fully tailored vessels.
Each design within the range will be dedicated to specific dredging types such as maintenance, multi-functional, and capital dredging. The dredgers will also have varying hopper capacities.
C-Job said each design is modular and can be used as is or adapted to better suit its intended operations.
Modular options of the C-Job TSHD fleet include modifying main parameters in addition to dredging operations and functionalities such as dredging depth, type of dredge pump, pump power, and discharge method. Additionally, the TSHDs allow for easy up- or downscaling of the hopper capacity ensuring any size is made possible.
The first concept design released from the series is a 14,000m3 multi-functional dredger. The dredger will be optimised for shallow water performance and will feature two (extendable) suction pipes, self-unloading systems, self-emptying bottom doors, and eco-friendly features.
The designs may also be customised to be powered by hydrogen-fueled propulsion systems in future, C-Job added.
