Netherlands-based marine projects company De Hoop Terneuzen recently held a christening ceremony for the second trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) in a series ordered from local shipbuilder Thecla Bodewes.

The 105.9- by 15.85-metre Krakesandt is a sister vessel of Anchorage, which was handed over to the same customer in 2020. The newer TSHD is scheduled for delivery in April 2022.

Krakesandt has a hopper capacity of 3,000 cubic metres and is designed for extracting sand and gravel aggregates. Like its sister, it will feature diesel-electric propulsion.
