Seawork will launch a new initiative to promote innovations that will benefit the broader commercial marine industry.

Under the Future Seawork initiative, three projects from current university students, which have strong potential or are close to being brought to market in the commercial marine industry, will be hosted in the Innovations Hall at the Seawork 2024 exhibition in Southampton.

For this year's edition of Seawork, the projects will be proposed by Maritime Research and Innovation UK (MarRI-UK) based on its close links with UK maritime universities.

Future Seawork formal launch set for June 11

The Future Seawork Innovation Prize for 2025 will be awarded to three maritime projects selected from university entries with each receiving:

  • Display pod in the Innovations Hall alongside the Innovations Showcase and Small Business Enterprise Zone at Seawork 2025
  • Prize announcement at the European Commercial Marine Awards (ECMAs)
  • Promotion and exposure in Maritime Journal and on Seawork.com.
  • Mentoring from a senior figure in the commercial marine industry

Innovation Awards

Seawork also encourages commercial marine businesses to participate in the Innovation Awards. All the latest equipment, services, projects, and vessels that have been introduced to the commercial marine market in the last 12 months are eligible to enter.

All Innovation Awards entries will be displayed in the Innovations Showcase to provide visitors the opportunity to see the latest developments in this sector.

The Innovation Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts in various categories with presentations made at the prestigious European Commercial Marine Awards (ECMAs) evening on Tuesday June 11, 2024.
