Austal USA has reached a US$6.75 million agreement to buy aluminium non-destructive testing technology company ElectraWatch.
ElectraWatch has developed and deployed a portable system for the non-destructive testing of aluminium used in demanding environments, in this case predominantly for aluminium ships.
The primary customer for the technology has been the United States Navy.
Austal is the world's largest aluminium shipbuilder through its defence and commercial operations.
Austal's Chief Executive Officer David Singleton said ElectraWatch will continue to operate under its brand inside the service and support business of Austal USA.
