Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery and Engine (MHI-MME) has recently signed a licensing agreement with China-based Changzhou Zhonghai Marine Propeller (CZZH).
Under the agreement, MHI-MME will provide CZZH with the manufacturing and marketing rights to its range of marine propellers.
MHI-MME has previously licensed a variety of its marine machinery to Chinese companies, including two-stroke low-speed engines, marine auxiliary boilers, marine turbines and steering gear.
The new propeller agreement, however, marks the first time that the company will be licensing its propellers.
The licensing agreement applies to MHI-MME's complete line-up of Mitsubishi Advanced Propellers (MAP), including the advanced and efficient Mark-W model.
The agreement was reached following a meshing of the two stakeholders' aims, with CZZH looking to respond to the Chinese market's demand for high-performance propellers and MHI-MME seeking expansion of Mitsubishi-brand propellers into the Chinese market.
