Icelandic firms Skaginn 3X, Frost and Rafeyri have signed a contract to build a pelagic processing factory on the Kuril Islands in Russia's far east.
To be funded by JSC Gidrostroy, the factory will be equipped with leading technology to grade, pack and freeze 900 metric tonnes of pelagic fish per day.
The factory will be located on the remote island of Shikotan.
The three Icelandic companies have previously worked together as Knarr Maritime, equipping processing vessels and erecting several factories.
