Deliveries include trawlers for owners in Greenland, Scotland, and the Faroes. Meanwhile, a Russian design firm launches a new series of trawlers for year-round fishing thanks to their ice-capable hulls.
Turkish-built stern trawler delivered to Faroese owner
A Turkish shipbuilder recently delivered a new stern trawler to Faroe Islands-based fishing company Havborg.
The Skipsteknisk-designed Emerald measures 87 by 18 metres and has accommodations for 40 crewmembers.
The trawler also has a fish factory that can manufacture fish meal and fish oil. The freezer hold has a capacity of 2,250 cubic metres.
Other facilities include an onboard hospital.
Shetland fishing company acquires second trawler in series
Shetland-based 60 North Fishing has taken delivery of the second trawler in a series built by Tehnomont Shipyard of Croatia.
The 25-metre Prolific is a sister vessel of Copious, which was delivered to the same owner earlier this year. Design work on both vessels was provided by Macduff Ship Design.
Like its sister, Prolific was designed to be able to easily swap between single net trawling, twin rigging, and pair trawling with all equipment needed for these three operations to be carried on board. The arrangement of the deck machinery was developed collaboratively with the owner to improve the safety and efficiency of fishing operations.
Royal Greenland welcomes additional 82-metre trawler to fleet
Fishing company Royal Greenland has expanded its fleet of trawlers with the recent acquisition of a newbuild fishing vessel from Spanish shipyard Astilleros de Murueta.
The DNV-classed, Skipsteknisk-designed Tuugaalik will be operated by Royal Greenland partner company Qaleralik. As with earlier sister Nataarnaq, the vessel has an LOA of 82.3 metres, a moulded beam of 18 metres, and two refrigerated holds with a total capacity of 2,950 cubic metres.
The factory equipment includes a complete processing plant installed with an automatic separation of by-catch, grading of the shrimps by size, and a continuous cooking line.
The shrimp are frozen either in IQF tunnels or in automatically loaded and unloaded horizontal freezers. The frozen and packed shrimp are then set aside in a freezer hotel for later onboard palletising.
Russian design firm unveils new ice-capable trawler series
Russian naval architecture firm Adomat has introduced a new series of fishing vessels designed for year-round pelagic and bottom trawling.
Each vessel will measure 48.72 by 12.4 metres and will have RSW tanks for transporting live catch. Onboard space is also available for optional catch processing facilities.
The design complies with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping's Ice3 requirements.
