Danish shipyard Karstensens Skibsværft has been awarded a contract to build a new factory trawler for Sille Marie, a family-owned fishing company based in Kristiansand, Norway.

The 65.9-metre pelagic trawler, which will also be named Sille Marie, will replace a 2011-built vessel in the owners' fleet.

The new vessel will be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system consisting of a MAN 2,920kW diesel engine and a large battery pack. To further reduce emissions, various equipment including the winches and the fish pumps will be electrically-powered.

Delivery is scheduled for June 2023.
