Damen Maaskant Shipyards at Stellendam have accepted an order for a new combination twin-rig trawler/fly-shooter.

Scheduled for delivery in 2019 to owners in the Dutch fishing precinct of Urk, Rense and Johannes De Boer, the Vripack-designed vessel Meindert Senior has an overall length of 31 metres and a 9.40-metre beam.

The hull will be built at the Safe Yard in Poland and brought to Stellendam for completion. She will have capacity for 1,300 boxes in the fishroom.

Meindert Senior will be powered by an ABC engine, Reintjes gearbox, fixed-pitch propeller and a pair of Caterpillar auxiliary engines.

The winches for fly-shooting and twin-rig trawling will be delivered by VCU.

The UK-registered vessel will replace St Matthew, a 40-metre beam trawler built at Maaskant in 1991.
