The Kaliningrad-based Yantar shipyard has signed a contract to build a large fishing freezer trawler for the Preobrazhensky trawling fleet.
Based on a concept developed by Hotchya Marine Engineering, the 11,000-tonne Project SK-3101R vessel will have a length of 113 metres and 21-metre beam and be fitted with fishing equipment, fish processing plant and freezing holds for product storage.
The trawler is to be delivered to the Preobrazhensky Base of Trawling Fleet (Vladivostok) in October 2021.
The keel-laying is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2018.
The contract follows progress at the shipyard – a subsidiary of United Shipbuilding Corporation – on three Project SK-3101R trawlers being built in Russia for the first time in more than 20 years.
The lead trawler Leninets was launched last month, with the hulls of the second and the third vessels named Udarnik and Komandor under construction. The series is to be delivered to the customer in 2018.
