Alaska boat builder Peregrine Falcon recently carried out sea trials of a new gillnetter ordered by fisherman Bryan McMahan.

The aluminium-hulled Esa Ruth has a length of 32 feet (9.75 metres), a beam of 16 feet (4.9 metres), a moulded depth of seven feet (2.1 metres), and a displacement of 26,000 pounds (11.8 tonnes). Two Cummins QSB 550hp (410kW) engines deliver a speed of 40 knots.

The vessel will be used primarily to catch sockeye salmon in Alaska's Bristol Bay beginning this summer.
