Russia's Okskaya Sudoverf Shipyard has signed a contract with Murmansk-based Fishery Firm Variant (Variant) to construct a series of six fresh fish trawlers.

The subsidiary of UCL Holding said the contract price for the Project СРТР38М vessels exceeded RUB2 billion (US$342 million).

The 38.0-metre LOA vessels are intended for bottom and variable-depth trawl fishing, primary processing of the catch, and transportation of cooled and refrigerated fish to ports.

Designed by Vostok Design Bureau, the КМ Iсе3 AUT3 vessels of unrestricted navigation are designed for year-round operation in the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea.

Featuring 1,330kW propulsion and two 200kW auxiliary engines, the vessels have a speed of 12.5 knots. They have a holding capacity of 340 cubic metres, including a 280-cubic-metre cooled hold and a 60-cubic-metre refrigerated hold.
