Norwegian family-owned fishing company Østerbris has awarded Karstensens Skibsværft of Denmark a contract for the construction of a new pelagic trawler that can also be configured for purse seining. The trawler, which will also be named Østerbris, is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2027, replacing an earlier similarly named vessel completed in 2014.

Upon completion, the newer Østerbris will have an LOA of 86 metres, a beam of 17.5 metres, a depth of nine metres, and three RSW tanks with a total capacity of 3,460 cubic metres. The vessel will focus on catching blue whiting, herring, and mackerel.

Power will be provided by two Bergen 3,600kW main engines driving a single Brunvoll 4,500mm propeller. As part of the vessel's standard operating profile, it will rely on only one of the two engines to drive the propeller. The deck equipment will meanwhile include Karmoy winches and hydraulic gear.
