Grindavik, Iceland-based fishing company Thorbjorn has selected Spanish shipyard Armon to build a new 58-metre trawler.

Thorbjorn said the trawler will be the first newbuild vessel that will join its fleet since 1967. Completion is scheduled for early 2024.

The Skipasyn-designed vessel will have a 2,400kW main engine and equipment for catch handling and processing.

The owner added that the vessel will be designed to allow later conversion into a freezer trawler if needed.
